The nickname reflects the fact that this is an unnatural monster made by mankind.

Extreme weather events threaten the security of our nation, and the world. The factors contributing to global warming (greenhouse gases) have accumulated over time and will naturally dissipate over time. For this to happen we must stop using coal, diesel, gasoline, and kerosene/aviation fuels as soon as possible.
The President interviewed recently with MTV noting the lack of discourse about global warming during the debates. In this he speaks of his work advancing renewables and efficiency: wind, solar, and biofuels along with better fuel standards and efficient buildings. At the end of the interview he spoke of the importance of research and that his administration believes that through research and science we will gain new energy sources that will finally get us out of this fix.

The Defense Intelligence Agency states LENR power will be the greatest transformation of the battlefield since the conversion from horses to gasoline.

This article just might be premature. Looks scary, but the storm surge will define the story. It’s not unusual for cold-core and warm-core systems to merge. (usually it’s storm and cold front)Planetwide probably one every couple of years. Most escape notice since they occur in midocean. The Northern Atlantic is a relatively small space, and in 1992, it witnessed the same event when a cold-core system popped unduly south (global cooling? Not.) and ate a tropical storm. The movie “The Perfect Storm” was based on it. Nice drama, pretty well-acted. But it stayed off-shore, so it took a movie to make it famous.
Perhaps south Manhattan will be put under a few feet of water. Perhaps not. New Jersey will surely be spanked. Lots of people needed to be prepared for likely power outages, but seriously–the first Storm of the Century in Dec-Jan 2000 was much fiercer. I think the eye is crossing the Jersey Shore as I write–the storm got mushed and sped up to 28 MPH. That’s about 33% of the surface wind speed to be felt by folks just north of the eye. Absolutely no precip east of the center, so lots of bluster for another 12 hours. Lots of power lines at risk. But Unprecedented? Only for movie-goers.
