I tend to evaluate things based upon their functionality. Our current system (as inequitable as it is – see the link above) seems to be doing quite well in terms of technological progress and resource production and distribution. That being said, there is always room for improvement, and I look forward to a time when the Malthusian dynamic of scarcity gives way to the dynamic of abundance.

BTW, bemoaning the status quo is like farting into the wind: it feels good, but is like a skunk at a garden party.

    1. 20000 children dieing everyday due to poverty (i.e. unable to afford necessities) IMO is not doing pretty well… But to each his own.

      1. Environmental remediation and restoration is an industry that has shown steady growth since its’ inception. Humanitarian aid is also an industry showing steady growth. The causes for the needs of such industries are a crux under the skin yet their are many examples, in life, which give cause for hope. There is the granting of a U.S. patent for a functioning LENR device and also the role that empathy plays in the evolution of humanity and society. I believe the one will further empower the other… In the very least LENR will alleviate many of the causes of senseless destruction and war; inherent famine and poverty.
